In an interview with Extra, Hurley revealed that she has a surprising favorite way to exercise, that doesn't involve going to the gym. "I don't work out, per se, but I am very active," Hurley says. "I do a lot of exercise, but it's really the gardening… cutting down a hedge, using my chainsaw to cut down a tree, logging, all of that stuff I do. So, I'm very active."
In 2018, Hurley decided to try two unique types of exercise. In a photo posted to her Instagram, Hurley was seen trying to hula hoop. She captioned the photo "Hula hoop practice." In another Instagram post Hurley is seen swimming topless in a pool. She captioned the video, "Attempting to swim off the calories."
Hurley likes to prioritize her gut health, and does so by drinking two glasses of hot water each morning, sometimes with apple cider vinegar added. "It tastes fairly disgusting," she told The Cut. "But it's fantastic for your digestive system."
Hurley says that she tries to eat clean and healthy food. "I like simple, natural, easy food. I don't really like food with a lot of chemicals or additives," she told The Cut. Hurley also likes to buy food from her local markets. She says, "When I'm at home in the country, I always try and eat food that's grown locally. That goes for meats and vegetables. All through summer we eat fruit and vegetables from my own garden."
Hurley is admittedly not a fan of doing traditional exercises, and prefers to stay home when working out. Hurley is a fan of what she calls "self-exercises." She tells The Cut, "I might do some stomach exercises or some bottom or arm exercises, but because I trained for a dancer when I was young, I sort of know all the exercises. I find it very hard for my schedule to regularly go anywhere else. It works very well for me."
For Hurley, wellness means being balanced. She told The Cut, "You need to balance both. Of course it's important to eat well and exercise. It's also really important to look after yourself emotionally." Hurley continued, "You also have to look after your health. You can't look good if you're not healthy, and diet plays a big part. You can't smoke and have too much alcohol. We all get hard knocks in life, but it's important to stay positive and stay engaged, and not be angry. Anger doesn't seem to go hand in hand with wellness."
