Denise Richards in Bathing Suit Says "Happy 4th" Celebwell

Denise Richards in a bathing suit said "Happy 4th." Her latest photo proves the star of Starship Troopers, Wild Things, and The World Is Not Enough–not to mention the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills–has still got it. Now a mom, she has even more of an obligation to take care of her health and wellness. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Denise Richards stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

Denise is always down to get moving, and walking is one of her favorite workouts. It's low impact, simple, there are amazing views throughout the area, and a little bit everyday can have big benefits on your health and wellness. Plus, it's a great activity she can do with her new husband and her children. "The average American walks 3,000 to 4,000 steps a day, or roughly 1.5 to 2 miles. It's a good idea to find out how many steps a day you walk now, as your own baseline. Then you can work up toward the goal of 10,000 steps by aiming to add 1,000 extra steps a day every two weeks," says the Mayo Clinic. "If you're already walking more than 10,000 steps a day, or if you're fairly active and trying to lose weight, you'll probably want to set your daily step goal higher."

Denise really enjoys hiking through her hometown and even while on vacation with her current husband, Aaron Phypers. When the couple were hiking in Montana, Denise posted an incredible view of the landscape on her social media. It's hard to feel like you're working out when you're looking at beautiful views like that.

Finding what works for you and your body is the hardest thing about picking a workout routine, but for Denise, she figured out fairly quickly that for her it's pilates and dance that work best. "I am very active. I found what works for my body — everyone's body is different and I think it's best to find what works for you. For me it's Pilates and dance," she explains.

She doesn't always say no to treats, despite her fit figure. "I do splurge on ice cream and I love pretzels. My abs get the best workout with my Pilates reformer — I had two C-sections and it was the only thing I found that got my tummy flat," she said. Portion control is key. "My cheat food is ice cream, but I found these tiny snack-size cones that Haagen-Dazs came out with."

She tries to stay mostly vegetarian, but will indulge in some meat sometimes. "My diet is 80 percent vegetarian and I eat all day long. I have lots of little meals; it's best for me," she said. "I found eating three big meals I felt too full and got tired especially after lunch. I eat lots of fruit, veggies, egg whites, oatmeal, a little chicken, eggs, rice — that's mostly my diet."
